David Croft

David Croft is the acclaimed commentator and presenter for Sky Sports F1 HD channel. He is globally regarded as an outstanding commentating talent famed for the passion and enthusiasm he brings to every event he covers. 2025 marks Crofty’s 20th season commentating on Formula 1.  With his “Lights Out And Away We Go” starting commentary, Crofty’s voice is instantly recognised worldwide by F1 fans.

Prior to 2012 David was the F1 correspondent and commentator for BBC Radio 5live where he also reported on various other sports including the Football World Cup, Olympic Games, Superbowl and hosted numerous boxing specials.

Away from F1, Crofty is also well known for his commentary at the legendary World Darts Championships, which he covered from 2002 to 2012. 

In addition to commentary, David has also been involved in major international movies. He featured as the voice of "Lofty Crofty" in Disney's Planes movie. Last year also saw Crofty in demand from the music Industry with critically acclaimed rap artist IDK featuring Crofty’s specially recorded commentary on his new album F65.

Gamers will also recognise Crofty’s voice from the world’s leading F1 games including F1 2025 - the latest in the hit game series he has voiced since 2011. Crofty is also the voice of the new F1 Manager game.

Away from the track, Crofty is always in demand hosting live events and engagements including presenting the opening of Autosport International, moderating and hosting senior level client hospitality events and thought leadership initiatives for major corporations.

The rise of Crofty’s global fan base has also seen him hosting special theatre events, most notably in Australia where fans can get together and discuss everything F1 in person!
